Kybella®

What is it?

Kybella® improves the appearance and facial profile of moderate to severe fat below the jawline and chin. Sometimes, despite diet and exercise, this stubborn pocket of fat simply won't go away. Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment designed to remove double chin fat by permanently destroying fat cells resulting in a contoured and defined jawline.


The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.


What to expect

Each Kybella treatment involves tiny injections under the chin with an appointment taking less than 30 minutes. Once injected, Kybella gradually breaks down fat cells over a few weeks. Patients can expect 2 to 3 treatments to achieve optimal results.
